Wish that great Mainstream LP's by my favorite singer's Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Morgana King and Maxine Weldon would become available...Feelin' Good is one I especially want and it is Sarah in peak form in a program of great songs with sublime arrangements and got to see this legend perform these great songs in West Hollywood club when it was released...anyone record the Dorothy Chandler concert with Michel LeGrande...an awesome event that I have never forgot!!!

Hi Anon, thanks for sharing your memories! We heartily agree that there should be more access to the great albums by the female voices on Mainstream.

A lot of it was made available in the early 90s when Tamara Shad licensed many of the recordings and there was also a small run of discs on Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. Sony Legacy now owns the rights to much of that catalogue but is not releasing a lot of their 70s material.

Some of the Mainstream 70s sides were reissue of 60s LPs in the first place (especially Carmen & Morgana albums), so it can be confusing trying to track down a recent release of a particular set if you don't know how it is being released. At the shad shack, we've tried to include pics or info on reissues as much as possible to help!

The Japanese company P-Vine has reissued a lot of great Mainstream CDs lately, including Ms Weldon's and Alice Clark's but they are often quite pricey. A good place to look for these is Dusty Groove where they will often be $10 less than Amazon when in stock.

If you do vinyl, I highly recommend recommend searching GEMM or MusicStack since most of those records can still be found in great shape (sometimes still sealed!), often for less than the price of a used CD that went out-of-print in the 90s. You can also get lucky with CDs and even cassettes on GEMM and MS as well.

I haven't seen any reference to a recording of that concert you mention but will keep an eye out for it in future travels!

It`s allways soooo good to hear hear her voice. Never heard this album but it feels real good. Beautiful cover too.
Thanks

Would Mainstream consider to reissue the complete Sarah Vaughan on Mainstream again on CD?

I was lucky to have got "Send In The Clowns", "Live In Japan", "With Michele Legrand" and "A Time of My Life" on CD.

While I am really searching high and low for copies of "Feelin' Good" and "With Jimmy Rowles Quintet". I have downloaded the mp3 postings of the two LPs, but the sound quality was weak...

Do please consider to reissue the Complete Sarah Vaughan on CDs again. I am sure that many of the great Divine One will appreciate it a lot! Not to mention new fans!

Dear Peter -

Are you aware that you're not actually writing to Mainstream Records on this blog ?

Sorry that my vinyl rip was not good enough quality for you, maybe you can give me some tips ?
