Dusty Groove sez:
A full, funky set from tenorist Paul Jeffrey -- a set that has the lesser-known player backed by a large group of west coast all-stars -- including Blue Mitchell on trumpet, David T Walker on guitar, and Joe Sample on keyboards! There's a tighter sound here than on some of Jeffrey's other sets of the decade -- an approach that's partly jazz, and partly soundtrack-styled funk -- thanks to the fuller backings on the set. Rhythms include a good amount of congas from King Errison and Chino Valdes -- and titles include "Bondage", "Ben", "Hip Soul Sister", "Soul Revival", "Jacoba's Song", and "Acrema".
